A lighter way of living
Jampel Centre is a residential Buddhist community of lay and ordained people who want to deepen their experience of the Buddhist way of life. Buddhist practitioners are of all ages and backgrounds, but share a wish for a meaningful life.
Volunteering at Jampel Centre
Jampel Buddhist Centre is a charity (no. 1071837) dedicated to bringing peace and harmony to people in Kent through meditation and Buddhist teaching. The centre exists for the public and is run by volunteers. Everyone can help in many different ways - getting involved is a great way of having fun and getting to know people. Because the centre is dedicated to all living beings, cherishing the centre is the same as cherishing all living beings, and accumulates a vast amount of merit.
How you can help:
At meditation classes - we need assistants to help set up, make tea etc.
In your own area - by distributing posters and flyers advertising the classes.
At events - such as cooking at a day course or manning a stall.
Around the centre - gardening, DIY, or building projects
Becoming a Resident
Living in a Kadampa Buddhist Centre is the perfect way to deepen your Dharma practice. The centre is a peaceful place with few distractions, and a supportive Sangha community.
We ask that residents have a sincere interest in Kadampa Buddhism, and attend one of the weekly classes at the centre. The centre is vegetarian, and no intoxicants or smoking are allowed. There are no TVs or loud music, so that the centre can be a place of peace for everyone. Rooms are available starting at £250 pcm, including bills - please ask to be shown around if you are interested, and pick up an application form.
