| Finding contentment in this busy world
For as long as we cling to the notion that lasting happiness can be found from
external things, we will continue to experience disappointment and frustration.
However, once we realise that it is our own mind that determines whether any situation
we are in leads to happiness or suffering, then we can use Buddha's teachings
to develop true peace and contentment. “It is possible to experience
inner peace and contentment just by controlling the mind, without having to depend
at all upon external conditions. When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides
and the mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises
from within.” - Introduction to Buddhism, Geshe Kelsang
Kadampa Buddhism The New Kadampa Tradition is a Mahayana Buddhist tradition
that aims to make Buddha’s teachings accessible to everyone. Since our lives are
so busy, we need a special way of developing and maintaining inner peace. The
system of meditation taught in our tradition is perfectly suited to the modern
world, being easy to understand and put into practice, yet bringing profound results.
This Tradition was established in the West in 1977 by Venerable Geshe
Kelsang Gyatso, a fully qualified meditation Master and highly accomplished scholar.
